On May 27, 2010 there will be a protest held at the Molalla River School district office. There is said to be news reporters there. There will be kids outside singing from choir and playing their band instruments. We will be saying how important band and choir have been to us and how it will effect us when it is gone.
The school board doesn't get how many people they are affecting. They need to realize they are affecting the whole entire school district. Elementary schoolers will now never be able to play in a middle school band or sing in a middle school choir. Middle schoolers will not be able to play in a band or sing in a choir. The High school band will slowly die because there won't be experienced musicians joining. The band won't be able to compete in competitions, have a jazz band, or be able to play at the school basketball and football games. The high school choir has done the best they have ever done this year. Now the board wants to cut the where these singers are coming from. The middle school arts program.

ReplyDeleteI'm a sixth grader. Megan P.'s little sis. Me and two of my other friends are helping the protest happen. We are going to start protesting at 5:30, and we are meeting in the library park at 5:15. We are telling people to bring their insturment, posters, and snacks. We are doing this to make a difference. Not to be angry. We are telling people that if they are coming to be angry and throw around angry comments they shouldn't come. The board won't listen to us unless we be mature. Yes, channel 12 and 6 should be there, we e-mailed them. They said they would try to make it, so cross your fingers! Let everybody know about the protest. If we be mature and respectufl about it, they might just listen. Let me know if I can help anymore!
